Today we watched THIS VIDEO then did a Chalk Talk where students walked around the room writing down their ideas of what they wanted our classroom to look like, sound like, and feel like. They also wrote down their hopes for the year. Students, starred, circled, hearted, etc things that they connected with, or agreed with. There were no rules, they just let the ideas and connections flow! We will use these ideas to create our class rules.
Today we watched this video about a growth vs fixed mindset. Kids shared great examples of a time when they had a growth mindset, and we discussed how this kind of mindset can help us in school and life.
During mindfulness students created neurographic art. They pushed a small object around their paper creating swirls, lines, and more. We listened to peaceful music while students regulated their nervous systems after a fun recess!
Today we learned a multiplication game, Multiple Pathways! Students had fun warming up their math brains and cultivating a growth mindset!
